Valley Plate

The widest part of this plate isn't its surface, but the calm it creates. 

Li Zhen leaves the porcelain almost untouched. He allows a few gestures of green to carry the composition. The broad, shallow form gives both the painted landscape and whatever it holds room to breathe. 

It invites a slower way of setting the table. Emptiness is valuable. 

Part of the Mountains series, thrown in porcelain and finished with a white slip that lets the green glaze settle more gently after firing.
