Story

Like a quiet spring emerging from stone.

This shallow vessel draws the eye inward. A field of soft ash glaze gives way to the crystalised centre. Each stage of firing leaves its own trace, creating surfaces that cannot be fully predicted or repeated. Fine speckling radiates across the vessel, and the turquoise crystallised centre gathers light, shifting subtly as the piece is viewed from different angles.

Whether placed on a table or displayed as an object, it invites a slower kind of attention.

Care

Handle with care. Clean gently with warm water and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive materials. If used with fresh flowers or food, empty standing water regularly and allow the interior to dry thoroughly.

Subtle variations in colour, glaze and surface markings are a natural result of the firing process and form part of the character of each piece.

Meet the maker

Wu Jingwen works with raw stoneware, letting iron and wood-ash glazes bring out the clay's natural vitality.

“A thousand things shape a piece before it is finished—temperature, climate, humidity, time, the clay, and the glaze. I am only one factor among them: not someone who commands the material, but someone who discovers what is already there.”
