This teacup's hexagonal form is defined by crisp lines and quiet precision. Held in the hand, those edges soften, each facet catching the light differently as the cup is turned.

The surface carries the gentle unpredictability of wood firing. Warm traces of ash and flame settle naturally across the transparent glaze, giving every cup its own distinct character. 

Designed for tea, the cup brings together structure and spontaneity—one shaped by the maker's hand, the other by the fire itself.

Material: Jingdezhen Fine Jade Porcelain with transparent glaze

Technique: Hand-thrown
Wood-fired at 1,260°C

Care

Wash gently by hand using lukewarm water, mild detergent and a soft sponge. Take care around the textured wood-fired surface, and avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool and sudden changes in temperature. 

Rinse thoroughly and allow the cup to dry completely before storing. Dishwasher and microwave use are not recommended. 
Meet the maker

Many of Geng’s vessels are formed through a single, continuous throwing process, with the principal shape established directly on the wheel rather than substantially redefined through trimming afterwards.

He compares this uninterrupted movement to Chinese calligraphy: from the first gesture to the last, the energy of the line must remain connected. This approach allows the finished vessel to retain the immediacy, rhythm, and subtle variation of the throwing process.
